Turkic states plan to establish a regional metrology organization called TurkMET
A regional metrology organization of Turkic states — TurkMET — may be established soon.
According to Report, this was announced by the Secretary-General of the Organization of Turkic States (OTS), Kubanychbek Omuraliev, at the 2nd Meeting of Ministers of Industry, Science, Technology and Innovation of OTS member states in Baku.
He noted that preparatory work is already underway, and member countries have submitted their proposals for the TurkMET Charter.
“We expect it to be signed in the near future. At the same time, on Kyrgyzstan’s initiative, a Memorandum of Understanding among the standardization bodies of OTS member states has been prepared. This document will be an important step toward strengthening institutional cooperation, mutual recognition, and harmonization of standards across the Turkic region,” Omuraliev said.
He also emphasized that Turkic countries are actively developing cooperation in space technologies — from participation in Turkey’s CubeSat project and training programs to Azerbaijan’s work on establishing a legal framework for partnership.
