Turkmenistan and Iran Expand Railway Cooperation
From September 6 to 8, 2025, during a working visit to Iran, Turkmenistan's Minister of Railway Transport, Mammet Akmammedov, held talks with Iran’s Minister of Roads and Urban Development, Farzane Sadegh.

The two sides discussed strengthening trade and economic cooperation through railway links, with a focus on enhancing the efficiency of the China–Kazakhstan–Turkmenistan–Iran international railway corridor.
They also addressed plans to boost cargo transit through the "Ashgabat Agreement" route (Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan, Iran, Oman) and explored further development of the Armenia–Iran–Turkmenistan–Kazakhstan transit corridor.
Both countries expressed commitment to deepening cooperation within the framework of the Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO) and enhancing regional connectivity through mutually beneficial railway projects.
