Azerbaijan and Uzbekistan to jointly host the FIFA U-20 World Cup

According to Report, the decision was made today at the regular meeting of the FIFA Executive Committee.

This historic achievement is the result of the successful sports policies of Azerbaijan’s President Ilham Aliyev and Uzbekistan’s President Shavkat Mirziyoyev, including their focus on the development of football in their countries.

AFFA expressed gratitude to the members of the FIFA Executive Committee, especially to the organization’s president Gianni Infantino, for the high level of trust shown.

It should be noted that Azerbaijan and Uzbekistan will host the 25th edition of the U-20 World Cup, which has been held every two years since 1977. For the first time in football history, a men’s World Cup will be held in Azerbaijan. Also, for the first time, Azerbaijan’s men’s national team will participate in the final stage of the World Cup.

Recall that the 2025 U-20 World Cup is currently taking place in Chile. The tournament, featuring 24 teams, started on September 27 and will conclude on October 19.
