Berdimuhamedov Proposes New Collaboration With Leading Japanese Companies

President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov held meetings in Tokyo on Friday with executives of leading Japanese companies, during which he outlined specific proposals to expand cooperation with specialized and advanced firms.

The initiatives cover water supply, water purification, waste management, green and hydrogen energy, and the transition to a circular economy, Turkmenistan newspaper reported Friday.

The meetings included representatives of the Turkmen-Japanese Economic Committee, as well as executives and delegates from Mitsubishi Corporation, Sumitomo Corporation, Komatsu Ltd., Toyo Engineering Corporation, Kawasaki Heavy Industries Ltd., Tokyo Boeki Eurasia Limited, Mitsubishi Heavy Industries Ltd., Sumitomo Heavy Industries Ltd., Tohkemy Corporation, and ITOCHU Corporation.

During the talks, Turkmen leader emphasized that Japan is seen by Turkmenistan as a model of harmoniously combining high technology, an innovative economic approach, industrial capacity, and environmental responsibility.

Berdimuhamedov praised the contribution of Japanese companies that have successfully operated in Turkmenistan for many years to strengthening the country’s economic potential and expressed readiness to further expand investment cooperation in priority sectors.

At the conclusion of the meetings, Japanese business representatives expressed confidence that the President’s visit would contribute to the practical implementation of agreements reached and further development of bilateral economic cooperation.

During his working visit to Tokyo for the first Central Asia–Japan Dialogue Summit, Berdimuhamedov also met with Fukuhiro Nukaga, Speaker of Japan’s House of Representatives, and Toshiaki Endo, head of the Japanese side of the Turkmen-Japanese Parliamentary Friendship Group.
