Cradle of Art in Lebap: Specialized Art School Celebrates Its 50th Anniversary

To deeply study, preserve like the apple of one’s eye, and pass on the national cultural heritage rooted in antiquity — enriched by the elegance of modern times — to future generations is the noble mission of art institutions.

Cradle of Art in Lebap: Specialized Art School Celebrates Its 50th Anniversary

One such institution, the Lebap Specialized School of Art, has for 50 years been a vital pillar of Turkmenistan’s cultural scene, bringing together dedicated mentors and talented youth whose destinies are closely tied with art.

— Our school is proud of its experienced teachers — People's Artist of Turkmenistan Bäşim Berdiyev, People's Bakhshi of Turkmenistan and head of the bakhshi group under the regional Department of Culture Gurbandurdy Ovezov, Merited Artists of Turkmenistan, composer Batyr Soltanov, artists Myrat Baltayew, Dowlet Sahatow, and Narkuly Huseinow. Also among them are masters like Tazegul Jorayewa, Yuliya Jumayewa, and the candidate of art sciences Allaberdi Ergeşow, who perfected more than 30 types of plucked dutars.

Talented educators such as Alymjan Işankulyýew and Babakuly Jorakulyýew not only train young talents but also generously share their experience with them — said the school’s director Serdar Hakyýew in an interview.

We train specialists in nine areas of art. Our experienced teachers have prepared dozens of educational manuals for art and music schools. Additionally, our specialists regularly visit children's art schools across the region to provide methodological support to their colleagues — added Batyr Akmyradow, the deputy director for academic and methodological work.

A concert prepared by the school’s students and teachers at the State Music and Drama Theater named after Seýitnazar Seýdi, dedicated to the school’s milestone, uplifted music lovers into the realm of harmony. Songs praising the prosperous era gifted by Hero Arkadag and our esteemed President, as well as classical works by renowned Turkmen and international composers, were performed with great mastery, showcasing the school’s high level of professionalism.
