Doctor explains how much fish adults and children should eat

Dr. Moiseev: An adult should eat 25–30 kg of fish per year

An adult should consume 25–30 kilograms of fish per year, pediatrician and Doctor of Medical Sciences Anatoly Moiseev told RIA Novosti.

He noted that children should start eating fish at around 8 months of age, beginning with lean varieties such as cod and hake. Red fish, such as salmon, can be introduced closer to one year old.

To get the proper amount of vitamins and microelements, an adult should eat around 600 grams of fish per week, which equals 25–30 kilograms per year. The same amount of fish can be eaten by a 12-year-old child.

On November 1, cardiologist and therapist Lenar Kashapov stated that proper nutrition plays an important role in stroke prevention and maintaining vascular health.

On October 30, Doctor of Medical Sciences Larisa Volkova said that women need 58–87 grams of protein per day, while men should consume 65–115 grams.
