China successfully launched the Earth observation satellite “Yaogan-46” into orbit, according to the China Aerospace Science and Technology Corporation (CASC).

The satellite was delivered to orbit using the Long March-7A carrier rocket. Yaogan-46 will be used for disaster prevention and mitigation, research of the country’s land and water resources, and meteorology.

At the end of September, China also successfully launched the Fengyun-3H meteorological satellite.

Earlier reports stated that Chinese company Galactic Energy will introduce the world’s first electromagnetic rocket launch system in 2028. The system operates on the maglev principle, using superconducting magnets to accelerate rockets to supersonic speeds before their engines ignite. The system is silent and allows rocket fuel savings.
