Law on Scientific Intellectual Property Entered into Force in Turkmenistan
President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov has signed the Law “On Scientific Intellectual Property,” which regulates relations arising from the creation and use of scientific intellectual property objects and aims to ensure the protection of property rights to such objects.
Objects of scientific intellectual property include monographs, dissertations, scientific reports, scientific articles, scientific reviews, depending on the purpose of their creation, specific characteristics, content, form of presentation, as well as scientific-methodological guidelines, annotations, abstracts, and other derivative works resulting from the processing of scientific intellectual property objects.
This Law regulates relations arising in the field of scientific intellectual property, defines the forms of copyright for objects of scientific intellectual property, and aims to protect rights associated with their use. The Law does not apply to relations connected with the creation of computer programs, databases, inventions, utility models, industrial designs, breeding achievements, topologies of integrated circuits, and objects constituting commercial secrets, even if they are results of scientific intellectual property created in the process of scientific activity.
