Mbappé lost his place in the French national team due to injury
Real Madrid forward Kylian Mbappé has temporarily left the French national team due to injury and will not take part in the World Cup 2026 qualifier against Iceland, scheduled for October 13. This was reported on the official website of the French Football Federation (FFF).
On Friday, the French national team defeated Azerbaijan 3–0 in a World Cup qualifying match. Mbappé started the game as captain and managed to score a goal. However, he was substituted in the 83rd minute due to injury.
"Due to an injury to his right ankle, Mbappé will not be able to play in Monday's match against Iceland. Head coach Didier Deschamps confirmed that he will not participate. Therefore, Mbappé has returned to his club — Real Madrid — and no replacement will be called up," the statement reads.
This season, Mbappé has played in 10 matches across various competitions and has scored 14 goals. With 9 goals, the French forward remains the top scorer of the current La Liga season.
