Our athletes at a prestigious sports festival: Turkmenistan participates in the 3rd CIS Games

On September 28, the official opening ceremony of the 3rd Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) Games took place at the stadium in Ganja, Azerbaijan, with the participation of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Ilham Aliyev.

The 3rd CIS Games, involving member states, will continue until October 8 and feature exciting competitions held across 12 sports venues located in the cities of Ganja, Yevlakh, Mingachevir, Gabala, Sheki, Goygol, and Khankendi in Azerbaijan.

Turkmenistan’s national team is also taking part in this grand sporting event, represented by nearly 50 athletes competing in various disciplines. Turkmen athletes will participate in wrestling, judo, sambo, swimming, gymnastics, team sports, and other events.

The participation of Turkmenistan’s national team in the CIS Games marks an important step in the development of Turkmen sports and confirms the country’s commitment to international sports cooperation. It also presents a valuable opportunity for Turkmen athletes to demonstrate their high level of preparation, strengthen international sports relations, and achieve new successes.

More than 1,620 athletes from 13 countries are taking part in the 3rd CIS Games. The program includes competitions in 23 sports disciplines, with 246 sets of medals to be contested. The goals of the Games are to promote the development of sports, strengthen friendship and cooperation among nations, and encourage healthy lifestyles among youth.
