Rabab Fatima: "Turkmenistan Demonstrates Steadfast Commitment to Hosting the UN Conference"

On August 3, a flag-raising ceremony was held in the "Awaza" National Tourist Zone to mark the opening of the Third United Nations Conference on Landlocked Developing Countries. The event was held in a solemn atmosphere with the participation of high-level guests.
Speaking at the ceremony, UN Under-Secretary-General and High Representative for Least Developed Countries, Landlocked Developing Countries, and Small Island Developing States, as well as Secretary-General of the Conference, Rabab Fatima, emphasized the special importance of Turkmenistan’s efforts and unwavering commitment to hosting the forum. She noted that participating in the flag-raising ceremony was a great honor for her.
In her message on the social platform X (formerly Twitter), the UN representative wrote:
"Deep gratitude to the Government of Turkmenistan for its outstanding leadership, steadfast commitment, and generous hospitality."
Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan Rashid Meredov, in his remarks during the event, stated that hosting this conference is not only a prestigious international event but also a clear expression of Turkmenistan’s commitment to the goals and principles of the United Nations Charter.
Rabab Fatima, the Secretary-General of the Conference, also stressed the particular importance of joint efforts by participating countries and partners, highlighting that such cooperation plays an essential role in the development of landlocked countries.
