Serdar Berdimuhamedow Meets with the President of the Portuguese Republic
During his working visit to the United States of America, the President of Turkmenistan, Serdar Berdimuhamedow, met with the President of the Portuguese Republic, Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa.
It is noted that Turkmenistan and the Portuguese Republic maintain friendly relations based on the principles of equality and mutual respect. In this regard, the interlocutors stated that both countries have broad opportunities to develop and strengthen cooperation. Turkmenistan and Portugal consistently support each other's effective international initiatives and act as co-authors of these initiatives within the framework of the United Nations.
In this context, the Head of State noted that on the initiative of Turkmenistan, and in accordance with the UN General Assembly resolution, 2025 has been declared the “International Year of Peace and Trust,” which coincides with the memorable 30th anniversary of the country's permanent neutrality. The President invited Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa to participate in the international forum to be held in Ashgabat on December 12 of this year.
The President of the friendly country expressed gratitude for the invitation and emphasized that Turkmenistan’s positive neutral and peace-building foreign policy enjoys wide support in the international community, strengthening the country’s international prestige as a responsible participant in global dialogue.
At the end of the meeting, the esteemed Presidents Serdar Berdimuhamedow and Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa expressed confidence that effective interstate relations will continue to develop for the benefit of the friendly peoples of both countries, wishing each other good health and success in their responsible state duties.
