The Ideal Time for Your First Cup of Coffee or Tea Has Been Identified
Drinking coffee or tea within the first 2.5 hours after waking up may be particularly beneficial for improving mood. This conclusion was reached by German researchers, with their findings published in the journal Scientific Reports (SciRep).

The scientists analyzed data from two large-scale studies involving over 230 young adults. Over the course of several weeks, participants recorded multiple times per day whether they had consumed caffeinated beverages within the previous 90 minutes. They also assessed their emotional state using a mobile app.
The results showed that after drinking coffee or tea, participants experienced increased feelings of happiness and enthusiasm, especially when the beverage was consumed within 2.5 hours of waking up. The impact on negative emotions was less frequent and less pronounced.
The study also found that the stimulating effects of caffeine were stronger in individuals who felt tired and weaker when they were in the presence of others. Interestingly, tendencies toward anxiety or depression did not affect these results.
The authors emphasize that caffeine can be a useful tool to help maintain a positive mood throughout the day, especially in the morning. However, due to the observational nature of the study, a direct cause-and-effect relationship cannot be confirmed.
