The Strength of Cotton Growers — Confidence in a Rich Harvest
At the farmers’ association in Kerki district of Lebap province, the cotton-growing season is currently in full swing. During this important time, the tenants of the “Azatlyk” (Liberty) farmers’ association are diligently working the land. This year, they have planted 1,095 hectares with high-quality “Yoloten-39” cotton variety. The association’s overall plan for this year is to harvest 2,565 tons of cotton.

Considering that these farmers are cultivating cotton on 7,900 hectares, their goal of delivering up to 19,680 tons of “white gold” to the homeland is a substantial and highly responsible task. To achieve this ambitious goal, collective efforts are now focused on the fields.
Eight leading cotton-growing teams are working under the guidance of experienced agricultural leaders. These leaders are known not only by name but also for their high productivity. Among them are hardworking figures such as Agamyrat Gapurov, Atamyrat Atanyyazov, and Babamyrat Jumayev — each doing everything possible to ensure their teams produce abundant yields.
A visit to the cotton fields clearly shows thriving plants in full bloom, with harvest well underway.
Among the skilled tenant farmers of the association, Maýsa Gapurova stands out. She manages 1.5 hectares of land. Year after year, she nurtures the soil with care, investing her energy and affection into her work.
There’s a saying: “If you work hard, you will see the reward.” Maýsa hanum proves this each season by exceeding expectations. Last year, she harvested an average of 43 centners (4.3 tons) of cotton per hectare — well above the planned yield. This year, she has already carried out five field care treatments, applied fertilizer three times, and ensured sufficient irrigation from the Amu Darya River on three occasions.
As a result of her diligent care, her cotton plants are healthy, strong, and heavily fruited. The bolls and blossoms are already opening, revealing soft, white cotton ready for harvest.
Maýsa hanum shares:
— The care and support our esteemed President provides to farmers inspires us to work with greater dedication. As the saying goes, “There is no fruitful land without effort.” If you treat the soil with love and sincerity and pour your sweat into it, you will surely see its reward. Hard work always pays off. The key is to build a connection with the land and work with it in harmony.
Therefore, this year the association has set the goal of exceeding 45 centners of cotton per hectare. All the collective’s energy is focused on achieving this target.
