The Youngest International Draughts Master

The International Draughts Federation (FIDE) has officially recognized 10-year-old Russian draughts player Roman Shogzhiev as an International Master. This was reported by the press service of the Russian Draughts Federation.

Thus, Roman Shogzhiev became the youngest player in the world to achieve the title of International Master in draughts. He attained this title at the age of 10 years, 3 months, and 21 days.

The previous record was held by Argentine Faustino Oro, who became an International Master at the age of 10 years, 8 months, and 16 days.

For reference: Roman Shogzhiev was born on February 4, 2015, in Moscow, Russia. He started playing draughts at the age of 4. In 2024, he successfully competed in classic and blitz competitions among children under 10 years old.
