To maximize the benefits of coffee, it is recommended to avoid sugar and artificial sweeteners, which are often added in excessive amounts. Industrial creamers should also be avoided due to their high content of harmful fats. This was explained by American physician Trisha Pasricha in an interview with Infobae.

The specialist recommends choosing filtered coffee, as it contains fewer harmful compounds. Earlier, a study by Uppsala University showed that coffee from coffee machines contains the highest levels of diterpenes cafestol and kahweol — substances that increase cholesterol levels in the blood.

“As alternatives, ground coffee, instant coffee, or decaffeinated versions are also suitable,” added the doctor.

The expert noted that the healthiest option is the “purest” coffee possible, without additives. At the same time, moderation is advised regarding industrial creamers. Studies have shown that coffee creamers (especially those with seasonal flavors) usually contain vegetable oils as the main ingredient. Additionally, the finished product can unexpectedly be a source of sugar.

The doctor also emphasized the importance of timing when drinking coffee: it is better to drink coffee before noon to avoid disrupting sleep patterns. Pasricha also reminded that coffee stimulates intestinal peristalsis, so people with strong reactions should plan their coffee breaks accordingly.
