WeRide — the world’s first company selling robotaxis goes public on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange
WeRide, one of the leading companies in autonomous vehicle technology, became the first in the world to sell robotaxi services. Now it has taken a step further by officially listing its shares on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange.
A year ago, in October 2024, WeRide first listed its shares on the Nasdaq stock exchange in the USA under the ticker WRD. At that time, the company made a memorable milestone by becoming the first to produce universal driverless vehicles worldwide.
On the Hong Kong Stock Exchange, the company plans to offer more than 102.4 million common shares. Additionally, if the listing and official registration are not completed within 12 months, WeRide will have to prepare the registration documents again.
Currently, WeRide is the only technology company in the world with official licenses for autonomous driving in seven countries. Its research, testing, and manufacturing centers are located across more than 30 cities in 11 countries.
Against the backdrop of WeRide’s success, Tesla’s Robotaxi project also remains in focus. Tesla’s chief engineer recently shared updates, stating that the preparation for a two-seat fully electric autonomous vehicle is ongoing.
Tesla CEO Elon Musk emphasized that after the production launch of the Cybercab and Robovan concepts, the company will be able to produce one Cybercab every five seconds.
WeRide’s listing on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange opens new opportunities in the autonomous vehicle market and intensifies competition.
