China Creates Prototype of the Fastest Train

At the 12th World High-Speed Rail Congress, China’s CRRC Changchun Railway Vehicles company introduced an advanced prototype of a new generation magnetic levitation (maglev) train. This train can reach a record speed of up to 600 kilometers per hour. The newly developed technology aims to fill the gap between high-speed trains and air travel.
The main feature of the project is a hybrid suspension system of two types (wheels + magnetic levitation). The train initially runs on wheels at speeds up to 150 km/h, then switches to the magnetic levitation system. According to CRRC’s chief engineer Shao Nan, this is the first maglev in China equipped with an electrodynamic suspension system based on high-conductivity magnets.
Experts note that China is further strengthening its leadership in railway technologies. This project, under development since 2022, is considered one of the country’s strategic developments and is viewed as an alternative to medium-distance air travel.
