Bogachev reported that the current geomagnetic storm has reached a G3+ level, indicating a strong geomagnetic disturbance. The last time such a powerful event occurred was on June 1. Notably, no prior forecast had predicted a storm of this intensity. The situation is now unstable, and experts are unable to provide a reliable forecast for the next 24 hours.

He added that the geomagnetic environment is “highly disturbed” and favorable for the appearance of auroras even at mid-latitudes. While northern lights have already been observed in some areas, it remains unclear whether they will be visible in the Moscow region tonight.

Earlier, on the morning of September 30, the Institute of Applied Geophysics reported that the Earth’s magnetic field had reached a moderate disturbance level, which later intensified significantly.
