The order states: “TikTok’s U.S. network will be managed by a new partnership company based in the United States.” It also notes that “the largest share and control in the new structure will belong to American citizens.” China’s ByteDance company will “receive less than a 20% share,” and “the remaining portion will belong to certain investors,” whose identities have not been disclosed.

The company will be managed by a new board of directors, and it is emphasized that these regulations aim to protect Americans’ data and ensure U.S. national security.

After signing the order, Trump said in the White House’s Oval Office that he had discussed the issue in advance over the phone with China’s leader Xi Jinping.
