Energy — the driving force of development

As human consciousness evolves, desires increase, and the demands of the new era come to the forefront. In the modern world, during a period of rapid technological, scientific, and economic growth, energy serves as the primary driving force. With various energy sources available, their efficient and sustainable use significantly impacts countries’ economic development and ensures a prosperous and secure future for their populations.
Turkmenistan’s fuel and energy sector holds a special place in this regard. Our country, rich in natural resources, ranks fourth globally in natural gas reserves and is among the top ten gas-exporting nations. This is a source of pride for our people and a foundation for our country’s economic strength.Natural resources such as oil and gas are depletable, meaning they are finite. Therefore, using these resources efficiently, conserving their reserves, and ensuring their availability for future generations is a critical task. Countries that are not energy-independent, including European nations and Canada, began addressing their energy supply concerns 25–35 years ago by seeking innovative solutions. They have adopted various alternative energy sources, such as producing diesel fuel from wood waste, extracting shale gas, and utilizing solar and wind energy.
Renewable energy sources, like solar and wind power, are now widely recognized as “green” energy globally. These energy types are distinguished by their environmental cleanliness and minimal harm to the environment. Such energy sources are derived from sunlight, wind, water, biomass, and specially cultivated plants.Drawing on these opportunities, our country is also undertaking extensive scientific and technological advancements. For instance, in the Karakum Desert, windmills are used to improve the living conditions of shepherds. Solar-powered devices enable the generation, storage, and use of electricity over several days. To achieve this, scientific efforts are being made to accurately measure wind flow and direction and identify suitable locations.
Currently, the scientific discoveries and innovative projects in our country are aimed at fostering economic growth, improving living conditions, protecting the environment, and ultimately building a “green” future. Renewable energy sources not only address energy supply challenges but also serve as a cornerstone of ecological safety. This holds immense significance for our country’s future.
