Kazakhstan Expects Prompt Adoption of Artificial Intelligence Law
Kazakhstan anticipates the near adoption and enforcement of the law "On Artificial Intelligence" (AI).
This was announced by Majilis (lower house of parliament) deputy Ekaterina Smyshlyaeva at a press conference in Astana on Friday, according to the Kazakhstan bureau of Report news agency.
"Parliamentarians recently passed the draft law 'On Artificial Intelligence' in the second reading, along with amendments to related laws, and forwarded it to the Senate. I hope the review of the document will be completed soon and the law will be sent for the head of state’s signature," Smyshlyaeva said in response to a question from Report.
The draft law aims to create a unified legal framework for working with AI. Key provisions include legal and organizational regulation of AI use; ensuring transparency and security; rules for AI use in government bodies and quasi-government sectors; clarification of rights and responsibilities of all participants in the AI environment; and expanding government powers to form state policy in this area.
"The primary regulator in digital development will be the newly established Ministry of Artificial Intelligence and Digital Development," Smyshlyaeva added.
According to her, certain aspects, particularly related to cybersecurity, will be regulated by the National Security Committee.
