On May 29, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov held a regular meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers via digital communication, addressing several issues related to the country’s public life.

     First, the Speaker of the Mejlis, D. Gulmanova, reported on ongoing legislative activities. She noted that working groups within the Mejlis are drafting laws based on national socio-economic development programs and international legal norms. These drafts aim to improve civil-legal relations, protect human rights and freedoms, modernize the electoral system, regulate intellectual property, virtual assets, and customs issues. Additionally, cooperation with reputable international organizations and foreign parliaments is being consistently strengthened. In this regard, it was mentioned that the newly appointed Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Lithuania to Turkmenistan presented their credentials. Meetings were also held with representatives from the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, the Republic of Armenia, and members of the Turkmen-Iranian parliamentary friendship group. 

A delegation led by the Speaker of the Mejlis visited Beijing, China, where bilateral meetings were held to discuss priority areas of cooperation. The Speaker expressed gratitude to President Berdimuhamedov and National Leader Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov for the opportunity to undertake this visit. The President emphasized the importance of drafting laws that meet modern requirements and continuing efforts to improve legislation.

Next, Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers H. Geldimyradow reported on the draft “Requirements for Organizing and Conducting Industrial Safety Inspections at Production Facilities.” Developed by the Turkmenstandartlary State Service in collaboration with relevant ministries, this document aligns with the Law of Turkmenistan “On Industrial Safety of Hazardous Production Facilities.” A corresponding draft resolution was presented. The President underscored the importance of ensuring safety at industrial facilities, signed the resolution, sent it to the Deputy Prime Minister via digital means, and instructed further action.

Deputy Chairman B. Amanow reported on efforts to modernize regulatory documents for cargo operations involving the export of oil, petroleum products, and petrochemicals. A draft “Rules for Conducting Cargo Operations in Turkmenistan’s Seaports and Port Points for Exporting Oil, Petroleum Products, and Petrochemicals” was prepared. The President supported the proposal, noting the ongoing implementation of programs to develop the oil and gas sector, and instructed the Deputy Prime Minister to proceed accordingly.

Deputy Chairman T. Atahallyyev reported on the progress of seasonal agricultural work. Cotton fields are undergoing inter-row cultivation, weeding, thinning, fertilization, and irrigation. Rice planting has been completed in Dashoguz province, with preparatory work ongoing in Lebap province. Efforts are underway to increase potato and vegetable production, ensuring ample supply for the population, while measures are being taken to improve irrigation and land reclamation. The Deputy Prime Minister requested the designation of a date for the wheat harvest. The President approved the start of the wheat harvest on June 4 in Ahal, Lebap, and Mary provinces, and on June 11 in Balkan and Dashoguz provinces, wishing farmers success.

Deputy Chairman B. Annamammedov reported on preparations for International Children’s Day celebrations in Ashgabat, including city beautification, cultural events, and sports activities. Plans were also presented for constructing a modern “Gunesli” Children and Youth Center, covering 4 hectares, with facilities including a library, observatory, sports and cultural areas, and technical buildings, funded by the Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov Charitable Foundation. The President signed a resolution for the center’s construction and instructed high-level organization of Children’s Day events, congratulating the nation on the occasion.

Deputy Chairman N. Atagulyyev reported on efforts to improve the trade sector, including the construction of a new market in Sarahs, Ahal province. The President approved the proposal, emphasizing the importance of modern trade facilities.

Deputy Chairman B. Seyidova reported on preparations for the “Awaza – Place of Friendship” international dance and folklore festival, scheduled for June 2–7 in the Awaza National Tourism Zone. The President instructed high-level organization of the event to promote Turkmen cultural heritage and international cooperation.

Deputy Chairman B. Orazdurdiyeva reported on plans for Science Day on June 12–13, including an international conference on science, technology, and innovation, and an award ceremony for young scientists. The President emphasized the importance of advancing science and instructed the organization of these events at a high level.

Deputy Chairman and Foreign Minister R. Meredov reported on preparations for the President’s visit to Astana, Kazakhstan, for the first Central Asia–Italy Summit on May 30. The President highlighted the importance of strengthening ties with Italy and instructed continued efforts in this direction.

Meredov also reported on preparations for the President’s state visit to Mongolia on June 1–2, noting the significance of deepening ties with Asian countries. The visit includes bilateral agreements, a business forum, cultural events, and exhibitions. The President instructed thorough preparations for the visit.

M. Chakiyev, Director of the Transport and Communications Agency, reported on strengthening the material and technical base of Turkmenistan’s maritime fleet. The President supported the proposal to enhance services at the Balkan Shipbuilding and Repair Plant.

Other state-related issues were discussed, and relevant decisions were made. President Berdimuhamedov concluded the meeting, wishing participants good health, family well-being, and success in their work for the prosperity of Turkmenistan.
