Parliamentary Forum Kicks Off in Awaza

Today, the Parliamentary Forum began its work in the "Awaza" National Tourist Zone as part of the Third United Nations Conference on Landlocked Developing Countries (LLDCs). This was reported by TDH.

The forum is organized by the Parliament of Turkmenistan in cooperation with the Office of the UN High Representative for the Least Developed, Landlocked Developing, and Small Island Developing States, and in partnership with the Inter-Parliamentary Union.

The main objective of the forum is to share experiences related to the implementation of the Vienna Programme of Action and to create opportunities to support the new "Awaza Programme of Action" at the parliamentary level. Participants are offered a platform to exchange practices aimed at accelerating implementation at local, national, and regional levels through political engagement.

One of the key focuses is preparing and sharing concrete measures for incorporating the priority areas of the decade-long programme into legislative and policy-making efforts of parliaments of LLDCs.

The vital contribution of parliaments to the development of these countries is particularly emphasized. Laws and policies adopted to develop transport and logistics infrastructure, expand regional cooperation, and ensure economic resilience provide broader access for LLDCs to integrate into the global economic system.

The forum is attended by parliamentary delegations from landlocked developing countries, heads of state bodies, and representatives of international organizations.
