President of Turkmenistan Begins Working Visit to Japan
Yesterday, the Esteemed President Serdar Berdimuhamedov departed for Japan on a working visit to take part in the first summit of the “Central Asia – Japan” Dialogue. At the International Airport of the capital, the Head of State was seen off by the country’s officials.
At present, the traditionally friendly Turkmen-Japanese relations represent a vivid example of strategic partnership. The principles of mutual respect and equality form a solid foundation for the implementation of large-scale joint projects. The foreign policy of the country, initiated by the National Leader of the Turkmen people and successfully implemented under the leadership of the Esteemed President, gives a powerful impetus to the further development of multifaceted relations characterized by a high level of mutual trust.
The first official visit of Hero Arkadag to Japan in December 2009 marked a special stage that fundamentally transformed interstate relations. This visit not only opened a new page in the history of bilateral ties, but also laid the foundation for the concept of long-term industrial cooperation. Turkmenistan and Japan consistently cooperate on the platforms of international organizations for the benefit of global sustainable development. Active interaction within the framework of the “Central Asia – Japan” Dialogue is a clear example of this.
The interconnection of national interests is reflected in the implementation of large-scale projects shaping the region’s energy and environmental agenda. As a result of close cooperation with leading Japanese companies such as Kawasaki Heavy Industries, Mitsubishi Corporation, ITOCHU and Sojitz, unique industrial facilities have been established in the region. One vivid example is the plant producing environmentally friendly gasoline from natural gas in Ahal velayat. The commissioning of the polymer plant in Kiyanly and the urea plant in Garabogaz became a continuation of this strategy. These projects not only strengthened Turkmenistan’s export potential but also marked a new stage in the industrial development of the national economy.
Great importance is attached to the development of cooperation in the humanitarian sphere. The opening in Ashgabat of the Oguz Khan University of Engineering and Technologies operating in accordance with Japanese educational standards became an important step in training a new generation of specialists for long-term cooperation. Teaching the Japanese language in secondary and higher educational institutions of Turkmenistan, as well as professional training of Turkmen youth at leading universities of Japan, serves as an intellectual bridge connecting the younger generations of the two countries.
This visit to Japan is the second made by the Esteemed President this year. As is known, in April the Head of State visited Japan, where he took part in the ceremony marking the National Day of Turkmenistan at the World Expo 2025 and held high-level meetings. It should be noted that Turkmenistan’s national pavilion was among the first to open and became one of the most visited at the large-scale exhibition. Overall, the effective Turkmen-Japanese cooperation initiated by Hero Arkadag is today worthily continued under the leadership of the Esteemed President and is being enriched with new substance across various fields.
…After several hours, the aircraft of the Esteemed President landed at Tokyo’s Haneda International Airport, where the Head of State was warmly welcomed.
The working visit of President Serdar Berdimuhamedov to Japan continues.
