Instagram for TV Version Introduced

The social network Instagram is now expanding to television screens. On December 17, Instagram for TV was officially introduced.

According to the developers, Reels is set to become a format for home viewing — with family or friends — similar to movies and TV shows. In this way, Instagram enters direct competition with YouTube and TikTok on large screens. The launch of the TV version can be seen as Meta’s attempt to expand the presence of short-form video content beyond smartphones.

The application is currently available for testing in the United States on Amazon Fire TV devices. The company noted that in the coming months the app will become available on more devices and in other regions.

At present, the app allows users to add up to five accounts or create a separate account specifically for TV viewing. Videos are organized into separate channels based on user interests.

A search function is available, and additional features are planned for the future, including using a smartphone as a remote control, sharing feeds, and improved navigation.
