Raw Silk Production Increasing at the Türkmenabat Silk Production Association

At the Türkmenabat Silk Production Association, which operates under the State Concern “Türkmenpagta,” approximately 33.5 tons of raw silk were produced during the first six months of 2025. This represents 119.3% fulfillment of the production plan. This was reported by the electronic newspaper Altyn Asyr.
Since the beginning of the year, the enterprise has also produced 4,940,000 square meters of cotton fabric, exceeding the planned target by more than 106%. Additionally, 60,000 square meters of silk fabric were manufactured during the same period.
The report notes that outstanding employees of the enterprise are being sent to the “Hasyl” health and recreation center located in the national tourist zone of Avaza.
The association includes departments for cocoon boiling, spinning-weaving, dyeing, and the production of consumer goods. Here, silkworm cocoons cultivated by the country's sericulturist-leaseholders are processed into raw silk and silk products. This major enterprise processes not only the cocoons grown by sericulturists in Lebap province, but also those from Mary and Dashoguz provinces. It is a point of pride that nearly 900 specialists and workers are employed at the facility, which also has established the production of fine silk carpets.
These silk carpets, known for their high quality, are woven to order. The carpet-weaving department also produces popular items such as handbags, car mats, and gift carpets. Products made here are offered to the public at affordable prices in the enterprise’s own retail store.
The Türkmenabat Silk Production Association, part of the State Concern “Türkmenpagta,” was established in 1931. With nearly 90 years of experience, the enterprise has undergone a complete modernization in the years of independence. The adoption of modern silk processing technologies and the search for new production methods and product types have contributed to the expansion of the association's operations.
