Recently, a ceratosaurus skeleton was sold at a Sotheby’s auction for 30.5 million US dollars. This was reported by The New York Times.

The ceratosaurus is a two-legged carnivorous dinosaur that lived about 150 million years ago in what is now North America. It is distinguished from other dinosaurs by the unique features of its teeth. The largest skeleton found to date measures 7 meters in length. Paleontologists estimate its weight to be around 1 ton.

The skeleton sold at the auction was discovered by archaeologists in 1966 in the state of Wyoming, USA. Its length is 3.1 meters, and its height is 1.8 meters. Initially, the specimen was given to a museum in the state of Utah and was kept there until 2024. Last year, the museum put the specimen up for auction at Sotheby’s.

The auction organizers had planned to earn between 4 and 6 million US dollars from the sale of this ancient skeleton.
