Tesla has officially launched its autonomous taxi service — so far, it operates only based on customer requests.

Tesla company has officially started its autonomous taxi service. Initial trials are taking place in Austin, Texas. The service is known as Robotaxi and is currently available only by request — primarily for users of the X social network, who have previously supported Tesla and its products.

How Robotaxi works:

  • Tesla Model Y is currently used as the taxi;

  • Operating hours: from 6:00 AM to midnight;

  • Covers limited city areas (no routes to the airport);

  • Users must sign a contract and leave feedback via the app after completing their trip;

  • Operating conditions (hours, service areas) may change temporarily.
