“The Enterprise That Turns Labor into Art — Turkmenabat Silk Production Association”
In human life, there exist sacred values that define both the material and spiritual worlds. Among them, the inseparable connection between labor and art holds a special place.

When honest, heartfelt labor is transformed into art, it brings not only productivity but also reveals inner beauty through creativity. A shining example of such labor transformed into creativity in Turkmenistan is the Turkmenabat Silk Production Association.
A Pillar of the National Industry
Sericulture, with roots stretching back to ancient times, has experienced modern development during the years of independence. As one of the leading centers in this industry, Turkmenabat Silk Production Association today holds a significant place in the country’s economy.
During independence, the facility was comprehensively modernized: advanced cocoon-processing technologies were introduced, and new production methods were adopted. As a result, the scale of its operations expanded and efficiency increased.
High Production Growth
In the International Year of Peace and Trust, within the first seven months, the enterprise produced over 39 tons of raw silk — a substantial increase compared to the same period last year. Additionally, more than 5,700,000 square meters of cotton fabric and nearly 70,000 square meters of silk fabric were manufactured, significantly exceeding planned targets.
These achievements are not solely due to modern machinery but are also the fruits of hardworking and creative staff. The association employs over 900 workers across various workshops—cocoon processing, spinning, weaving, dyeing, and consumer goods manufacturing—processing cocoon harvests from silk farmers in Lebap, Mary, and Dashoguz provinces.
Mentorship — The Foundation of Success
A vital factor in the association’s success is the mentor-apprentice tradition. Experienced workers like Natalya Grigor’eva, Yangibay Kurbanov, and Gurbangül Agahanova play an essential role, proudly passing on their rich experience to younger generations.
To facilitate commuting for employees from different parts of Turkmenabat, the enterprise has also established a dedicated transport service, as noted by Babahan Kurbanov, head of the main workshop.
Silk Carpets — A Work of Art
Beyond cocoon and fabric production, the association has developed a fine silk carpet manufacturing line—creating new jobs and boosting income. High-quality, custom-ordered silk carpets are woven. The carpet division also produces popular items such as silk bags, car mats, and souvenir carpets, sold at affordable prices in the association’s retail store.
Labor Achievements in Celebration of National Holidays
The workers of Turkmenabat Silk Production Association are approaching the 34th anniversary of Independence and the 30th anniversary of Permanent Neutrality with outstanding labor achievements. Their success during the International Year of Peace and Trust testifies to the association’s significance not only economically, but also spiritually.
Where labor becomes art, and art becomes society’s spiritual richness — Turkmenabat Silk Production Association stands as one of the most illustrious examples in our national industry.
