The International Chess Tournament in Ashgabat Became a Celebration of Success for Young Talents

The international chess tournament held in Turkmenistan's capital, Ashgabat, was not only a competition among young chess players but also turned into a wonderful sports festival that united everyone. The event was organized within the framework of the "International Year of Peace and Trust," declared at the initiative of Turkmenistan.

About 130 young chess players from 11 countries participated in the tournament. Over 80 children represented Turkmenistan, 34 of whom are students from sports schools in the Lebap region.

The young chess players from Lebap achieved outstanding results. The regional team won a total of 19 medals. Six of these medals were claimed by young players from the western part of the region, who won two gold, two silver, and two bronze medals.

Moments of Young Talents Shining

The tournament featured rapid and blitz chess formats. The young players from Lebap earned 3 medals in each of these formats.

  • Bägül Jumayeva, a student of coach Rozmyrat Kurbandurdyyev from Dänew, secured second place in the rapid category for girls under 8, falling just one point behind the winner.

  • Dünýä Ruslanowa (from Turkmenabat), competing in the girls under 10 category, earned a bronze medal.

  • Maksat Awlyyakulyev (also from Turkmenabat) won a silver medal among boys under 10.

In the blitz competition:

  • Dünýä Ruslanowa won a gold medal in the girls under 10 category.

  • Aýa Bayramova secured a gold medal in the girls under 12 category.

  • Laçyn Isaýewa was awarded a bronze medal in the girls under 8 category.

The Role of Coaches and International-Level Success

The successful teams at the Ashgabat tournament were guided by experienced coaches — Güljahan Öwlyakulyyeva, Zumrat Açylowa (from Turkmenabat), and Maral Rozyýewa (from Çärjew district).

These achievements highlight the high level of international sporting capability among Turkmenistan’s youth and demonstrate the promotion of friendship and peace through sports.
