Turkmen Delegation Participates in UNESCO’s World Conference on Cultural Policy and Sustainable Development

The Turkmen delegation, led by Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan, Mehri Bäşimova, is participating in UNESCO’s World Conference on Cultural Policy and Sustainable Development (MONDIACULT-2025), held from September 29 to October 1, 2025, in Barcelona, Kingdom of Spain. This was reported on the official website of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan.

The main goal of the conference is to develop strategic directions for cultural policy over the coming decades and to integrate culture as a key pillar of sustainable development into the post-2030 global agenda.

The World Conference is held once every four years and serves as a leading international platform for dialogue and cooperation in the field of cultural policy.

The event brings together representatives of UNESCO member states, associate members, and non-member countries, as well as representatives of UN agencies, intergovernmental and international non-governmental organizations.

At this year's session, which includes delegations from over 160 countries, discussions focus on current trends in international cooperation — including the protection of cultural rights, digital transformation, interaction between culture and education, development of creative industries, the relationship between culture and climate change, safeguarding cultural heritage in crisis situations, and the future use of artificial intelligence.

Within the framework of the conference, ministerial-level dialogues and several side events are being held.

During a joint thematic session titled “Culture and Peace” and “Culture and Education,” Mehri Bäşimova emphasized the importance of the policy of the President of Turkmenistan aimed at preserving and promoting the country's rich historical and cultural heritage, strengthening cultural dialogue, and actively advancing cultural diplomacy.

It was especially noted that Turkmenistan is strongly committed to the principles and core values of UNESCO. This is reflected in its active participation in the implementation of the organization’s key programs and initiatives, the strengthening of cooperation, and contributions to the development of international humanitarian collaboration.

Turkmenistan’s participation in MONDIACULT-2025 represents a meaningful contribution to shaping the global cultural agenda and enhancing international cooperation in the areas of culture and sustainable development.
