NBC: AI is Being Used Instead of Lawyers in the U.S.

According to Report, this was reported by the NBC television channel.

NBC shared the story of Lynn White, an American woman who faced eviction from her mobile home due to overdue rent. After losing her case with the help of a court-appointed attorney, she decided to appeal using AI tools like ChatGPT and Perplexity. As a result, she was able to keep her home and reduce her debt.

"It’s impossible to overstate how helpful AI was in my case," White said. "I never would have won the appeal without it."

However, AI companies discourage people from using their tools for legal purposes. NBC notes that legal documents written with the help of AI often contain inaccuracies and flawed reasoning.

Despite this, many lawyers view the growing use of AI in their profession positively. Andrew Montez, a lawyer from Southern California, stated that while AI can't replace his legal judgment, it greatly helps with routine tasks. “In the future, every lawyer will have to use AI in some way — otherwise, they'll fall behind,” NBC quotes Montez as saying.
