President of Uzbekistan to Visit Turkmenistan for the UN Awaza Forum

President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev will pay a working visit to Turkmenistan on August 4–5 at the invitation of President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov. As part of his visit, he will participate in the Third United Nations Conference on Landlocked Developing Countries. This was reported by the Press Service of the Uzbek President.

As previously reported, the forum will take place in the "Awaza" National Tourist Zone on the Caspian Sea coast and is expected to be attended by UN Secretary-General António Guterres, as well as heads of state and government and leaders of international and regional organizations.

The agenda of the conference includes important issues of international cooperation such as strengthening transport connectivity, simplifying trade procedures, ensuring economic growth, and increasing resilience to climate change and environmental challenges. The forum will also discuss progress made in implementing the Sustainable Development Goals. Following the forum, the adoption of the “Awaza Programme of Action” for landlocked developing countries is planned.

During his stay in Turkmenistan, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev is also expected to take part in a preparatory event for the Seventh Consultative Meeting of the Heads of Central Asian States and hold several bilateral meetings.
