The 8th Meeting of the Turkmenistan-Azerbaijan Intergovernmental Group on Economic Cooperation Was Held

On July 28, 2025, the 8th meeting of the Turkmenistan-Azerbaijan Intergovernmental Group on Economic Cooperation was held in Baku, Azerbaijan. This was reported on the website of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan.
The Turkmen delegation was led by the Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers of Turkmenistan, Nökerguly Atagulyyev, while the Azerbaijani delegation was headed by the Minister of Economy of Azerbaijan, Mikail Jabbarov.
During the meeting, the parties noted the broad scope of cooperation between the two countries, covering important sectors such as trade and economic relations, energy, transportation, and cultural and humanitarian cooperation. In addition, they highlighted the great potential for expanding cooperation in the energy sector.
The meeting also emphasized the positive development of transit cargo transportation between the two states.
The parties discussed the necessity of expanding the activities of representatives from the private sectors of both countries, including participation in trade-relevant events, exhibitions, and forums held in Turkmenistan and Azerbaijan.
Furthermore, the parties noted opportunities to further expand cooperation in energy and oil and gas industries, chemical production, transport and communications systems, agriculture and food industry, environmental protection, as well as cultural and humanitarian fields.
As a result of the meeting, the Protocol of the 8th Meeting of the Turkmenistan-Azerbaijan Intergovernmental Group on Economic Cooperation was adopted. The document envisions expanding cooperation in trade and economic sectors, energy, transport, agriculture, and other areas.
The parties agreed to hold the next, 9th meeting of the Intergovernmental Group in the city of Ashgabat.
