Turkmenistan’s Foreign Minister Meets with President of the 79th Session of the UN General Assembly

As part of the Third United Nations Conference on Landlocked Developing Countries, Turkmenistan’s Foreign Minister, Rashid Meredov, held an official meeting with the President of the 79th Session of the UN General Assembly, Mr. Philemon Yang.
During the meeting, the sides discussed the current state and future prospects of the strategic partnership between Turkmenistan and the UN. Emphasis was placed on the importance of further developing cooperation in key areas such as trade, transport, energy, and climate change.
According to Turkmenistan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the role of multilateral diplomacy in ensuring peace and sustainable development at the international level was particularly highlighted. Rashid Meredov emphasized that Turkmenistan adheres to the principles of positive neutrality in its international relations, which help build trust and strengthen cooperation between states.
Philemon Yang, in turn, highly praised Turkmenistan's commitment to the UN Charter, international law, and peaceful relations. He expressed support for Turkmenistan's diplomatic activity both regionally and globally, noting that it earns great respect within the international community.
The meeting also underscored the significance of the UN General Assembly’s adoption of the third Resolution on Turkmenistan’s permanent neutrality. Both parties stated that this decision clearly demonstrates the broad international support for Turkmenistan’s peaceful foreign policy.
Additionally, it was noted that international forums held in Awaza give new impetus to regional cooperation and contribute to achieving tangible results at the global level.
The meetings and discussions taking place within the framework of the forum illustrate that the Awaza National Tourist Zone is becoming an active platform for international cooperation.
